Nota: Los domingos el acceso a las zonas arqueológicas es gratuito para visitantes nacionales, previa indentificación. De lunes a sábado se aplican descuentos para estudiantes y maestros con credencial vigente, personas de la tercera edad con credencial del INAPAM (antes INSEN) tienen acceso gratuito.

In the main plaza one can visit the two main Mayan buildings already restored: the Pyramid and the Palacio de los Estucos. These buildings are dated as belonging to the early Classic period, between centuries V and VI d. C, although there is also evidence of a later occupation, with carved stones characteristic of the Puuc style.

In Acanceh, like in Merida-Tho’, the importance of the conservation of ancient monuments for the enrichment of the physiognomy of modern towns is highlighted, as well as for increasing touristic interest in the town. In the east flank of the main Plaza one can find a colonial church which was built in the XVI century, in which the altar of the Virgin of Guadalupe is worshiped.

Acanceh is one of the few existing examples of guadalupan worship in the peninsula, so extended in contrast in the rest of the Mexican territory. In the center of the park, located to the west of the Plaza, one can observe the statue of the Deer, honoring the native name of this town.

It is located in the southeast, 33 km from Merida. There are nine cenotes and two caves in the municipality.

One can find architectonic monuments like: the ex-Convent and Temple of the Virgin of Guadalupe, built by the end of the XVI century; Temple of Our Lady of the Natividad, built in the XVI century. It also has archaeological monuments like: Canicab, Poxilá and Ekmul.

The archaeological zone is open every day of the week, from 08:00 to 15:00 hours.
